Engineering, Design & Product Development
Ground Effects product development capabilities are driven by a skilled and talented team of program managers, product engineers and creative industrial designers who incorporate both traditional and "outside-the-box" thinking to product design and development.
Three program managers oversee a department of four engineers and two engineering technicians, all of whom utilize in-house CAD design capabilities that are fully-compatible with all industry design and engineering data, including Catia, Unigraphics and IDEAS and ALIAS. Using conceptual designs from its customers, or generating conceptual designs themselves, Ground Effects' product development team can produce rendering concepts within two weeks of initial viewing, prototypes within four weeks, and production intent samples within five weeks. The team prides itself on turning "concepts into reality" in the most time-effective, economical, and results-oriented manner for Ground Effects' customers.
Ground Effects' engineering, design and product development activities follow strict APQP guidelines and utilize all product development process such as FEA (finite element analysis), DFM (design for manufacturing), FMEA (failure modes and effects analysis) and DVP&R (design validation plan and report). The design team incorporates validation, durability and component testing on all product developments and performs pre-production engineering fit-ups in-house.
Ground Effects' tooling department, featuring four ticketed tool makers and four apprentices, enables it to design and build all fixtures, gauges, forming and bending tools and stamping dies "in-house," thus significantly reducing lead times and meeting or exceeding its customers' targeted launch dates.
